About Phuntsok

Thupten Phuntsok was born Irnst Norgaisse in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He began formal Buddhist study with Kyongla Rato Rinpoche and later met his principal teacher, the late Sera Mey Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tharchin, in 1991. He received novice vows in 1993 and full ordination in 1994. A longtime student of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Phuntsok has taught Buddhist philosophy and meditation for more than 30 years. Based in New York City, he offers teachings, meditation guidance, and private Dharma Q&A for people seeking to bring compassion and wisdom into daily life.
